Civitavecchia seafront is the ideal place for a nice walk by the sea, where you can taste traditional dishes from the local restaurants, especially seafood. It lies opposite the entrance to the port and the railway station; from our holiday house you can reach it in 10 minutes on foot.
Once you get out from the trainstation you are in front of the promenade, on the popular street called Viale della Repubblica. If you turn right towards the port you will get to the statue of Garibaldi (1), who stayed in Civitavecchia at the end of 1800. In the square named after him there are shops, bars and restaurants. Few meters ahead you come across Piazza degli Eroi (2), where there is a monument to fallen soldiers of the homeland.
On the opposite side of the street, there's Piazza della Vita (or Piazzale events), a wide area by the sea (3), the hub of most of the city's activities, especially in spring and summer. Here you can find local products and gastronomic exhibitions, stalls, street food.
If you follow the promenade heading south you will end up on the waterfront Thaon de Revel (4), filled with restaurants, pizzerias and wine bars. Here there is the old bathhouse of Pyrgos, from whose terrace you can admire the seafront of Civitavecchia.
During daytime a walk along Pyrgo seafront is ideal to relax and enjoy the sun; in the evening it becomes the vibrant center of the youthful nightlife.
